A tall, muscular figure walked down the snow-dusted street. His hands deep inside his maroon-color parka's pockets. He wore a matching Ski cap and a pair of black snow pants. The young man's name was Brayden, and he was searching for sled dogs to start a team. He had moved here from Canada - Brayden had lived with his parents his whole life who were dog mushers, also. They competed in the Iditarod and he hoped to follow in their footsteps someday. Brayden was 19 and felt it was time for him to move away from home and try to start his own life somewhere new and fresh. Therefore, he chose Alaska. A beautiful place full of scenery, and not too many people - Perfect for him. Brayden had a deep passion for running dogs, but sadly he had to leave his previous dogs back home because it would have put too much stress on them moving. Now, he was in search of some strong sled dogs - Or even a hybrid or two. He hoped to get a team of at least 15 and train them himself. Brayden had parked his truck already and was heading down the street, in search of any friendly strays or anyone that may be selling a dog or puppy.

Alicia walked quietly down the street, her canine companion padding closely next to her. She had acquired the loyal mutt only a few days after she had arrived in Alaska. He was dumped on her front stoop, and instantly they both fell in love. Luckily, so did he mother. Dakota was friendly, affectionate, and healthy. Alicia assumed that the owner had little time or money to take care of him. It didn't bother her, being he was in a good state of mental and physical health. She smiled as he gently clamped onto her glove, careful not to bite her fingers. Stop it! she giggled. Pulling out a spherical object from her pocket, she chucked it down the street, and the fuzzy toupe canine pounced off to get the tennis ball. Alicia smiled, and jogged off after the dog. He quickly snatched up the ball between his jaws and turned sharply, nearly falling head-over-heels. He tore off, galloping straight towards her. The canine stopped dead in his tracks, seeing the teen on the other side of the street. Dropping the tennis ball, he cantered off towards him, plume wagging excitedly. Alicia shook her head. When would that mutt learn? She meant mutt in an affectionate manner, being she'd never call him something so mean in a serious way. Picking up the ball, she jogged across the street. Dakota jumped excitedly, prancing around the stranger. She had to admit, it was hilarious. Giggling, and nearly tripping over the curb, she snapped her finger and the slobbery mutt bounded to her side and sat quietly, plume waving from side to side. Sorry, she smiled. He's to friendly sometimes. She peered down at the dog, and with a quick, stern look, she threw the ball in the other direction, and smiled quietly as he bounded off again.

The young man ran his fingers through his chesnnut hair. He was thinking about his family back home and how much he had missed them. Brayden hadn't made one friend here in Nome yet, not even a dog. He was just starting to wonder if it was even the best idea for him to have moved out here. He could have just as well started a sled team back home - But nooo he just had to move to Alaska to live on his own. The bills weren't a problem or anything, Brayden just liked having at least one friend. A sigh escaped his lips as his eyes wandered down the empty street. It seemed that no one was even around today - It looked like a ghost town almost. He was just about to head towards the coffee shop down the road when a Husky mix came bounding towads him. "Woah!" He said, laughing slightly. Since the dog didn't seem to be agressive, Brayden wasn't too frightened - Maybe a little startled, but not frightened. He smiled down at the dog. His thoughts went directly towards sledding. This dog would be perfect! His drive and will poer was probibly amaising! Brayden looked around for an owner, and his eyes set on a beautiful young woman, probibly not too much younger than he. When the girl approached him, he gave her a smile. "Nah, its fine. I love dogs." He said, letting the dog smell his fingers before ruffling his ears.

She smiled. I think he likes you too. she said as the dogs began to 'talk' as the boy scratched his ears. It was something the dog did often, he'd groan when his ears were scratched, assuring everyone that he loved it. I'm Alicia. she said. And this, she looked at the dog, is Dakota. She held out her handin a friendly manner. Instantly, Dakota sniffed her glove and gave it an affectionat kiss. He gently pushed his muzzle away, shaking her head. Taking off the glove, she then offered her hand to him. The canine grabbed the glove, and trotted off. Laying down, he began to chew on it. Alicia rolled her eyes, he was an..odd dog to say the least. He liked to chew, even though he was around five years old, according to the vet. She looked back at the man before her. She had to admit, he was cute. It was odd to find such an attractive person in such a remote area. Nome was one of the most populated places in Alaska in her view, along with Anchorage. She suddenly felt her cheeks burning in embarrasment; she wasn't exactly having a good hair day. It was tied in a bun, stray hair sticking up randomly. It was hard to look good in such a windy and wet place. She also wasn't wearing makeup, simply some chapstick for her lips. Thinking for a moment, she spoke. Told you he's overly affectionate, she chuckled. With the other hand, she patted his head, in response, his tail thumpped the ground.

Brayden let out a small laugh at the dog's reaction. He had gone to shake Alicia's hand when Dakota licked her hand. He laughed again, and shook her hand. "I'm Brayden." He studied Alicia for a moment, watching how she was with Dakota - gentle and sweet. She wasn't stern with the dog, but he seemed to be so well trained. He thought for a moment before speaking. "Have you ever thought of putting him in sledding?" It was an odd, and random, question but he seemed so perfect for it, that it was hard to pass up. Brayden knew for a fact that Alicia wouldn't give up her companion to him - Of course not! He wouldn't think of trying to buy the dog from her. But maybe they could work something out, or even help her start her own sled team if she wanted too. A million thoughts and questions were running through his mind at once, but he decided to leave them for later. Brayden was snapped from his thoughts as Alicia spoke once again. He looked down at the dog and smiled, but said nothing. He returned his gaze to Alicia, and awaited her reply with a crooked smile on his face. Once you got him started on sledding, or even if he started it, there was no stopping him.

"I'm Alicia." She smiled. "Yes. He's trained to pull small things, though not much. I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable person on sledding." It was true. She personally was intrigued with sledding. Alicia had to admit, he would be a perfect sled-dog. He was strong, smart, and most of all, energetic. His bloodlines held promise, being he was a husky mix. Dakota was loyal, and intelligent. In her mind, she held no doubt that he could do it. It was mearly a matter of training him. She thought a moment, then smiled. Did he want to train Dakota? She wondered quietly. "Why?" she asked, cocking her head to the side, her pupils narrowing slightly. She often did that when she was suspicious about something, like she was now. It was a habit, not a good or bad one, just a habit. She sighed, boot shuffling the snow beneath it quietly. The faux-fur around the hood of her parka ruffled slightly as a small breeze zipped past her. She placed her glove back on, now realizing that it was off by its freezing pangs. She hugged her parka closer to her. It was light blue, and did its job of keeping her warm rather well, though she still wasn't completely adapted to the temperatures of Nome. Sighing slightly and hugging her parka, she awaited a response.

Brayden stood for a moment, staring at Dakota. There were a few moments of silence before he finally replied. "Well, I would like to start a sled team, and he seems that he would be perfect - Maybe a little training, but besides that he would be perfect." He said with a smile. Brayden turned his gaze back towards Alicia and studied her expression with yet another smile. He noticed too that it was getting rather chilly out - Not that it wasn't before, but the tempiture seemed to have dropped some. "Would you..Like to go to the corner coffee shop to get something to drink with me?" He asked her in a friendly tone. Brayden of course, hoped that she would say yes. It was hard to come across such a beautiful girl in the desolates of Alaska. He figured that they could talk about training Dakota then, that is if she wanted to.

"Sure." She smiled. "I bet he'd love to be on a team" she nodded. Dakota was a good canditate, he loved other dogs. She figured he had grown up around them, being he always loved to play with them. Alicia smiled, as Dakota nudged her palm, expecting a treat. She made a slight clicking noise with her tongue, and he quickly sat. She pulled out half of a dog-treat from her pocket, and threw it to him. He quickly snatched it from the air, and gobbled it up. Smiling, she looked at Brayden. He was tall, and very handsome, she had to admitt. It was far and few between she would meet men like him. Most were snobby and rude, unlike him. Most hated animals as well. She felt slightly embarrased, being she basically thought she looked like crap. He hair was frizzy, and she wore no make-up. She had never been one to love the way she looked, or one to obsess over it. She simply never thought of herself as beautiful.
